When it comes to your money, a lot of people all over the internet are dying to tell you where to put it. Investing, saving, retiring, buying– there are so many factors at play in making smart money choices. To make things even more difficult, much of the advice out there is not tailored to women. 

Luckily, the financial landscape has been changing in recent years. So many amazing women are blogging, podcasting, posting, and educating on financial literacy specifically for women. 

While we could have chosen hundreds of intelligent, insightful financial influencers, these women stood out. Here are just 8 of the women financial influencers you should follow in 2023.

1. Thamina Stoll (@giveherdollars)

Thamina Stoll dealt with post-graduation depression before she became a savvy money mogul, executive at a major tech company, and advocate for women.

Thamina Stoll is a German-born tech executive. She launched her financial equity platform, Give Her Dollars, to provide women with better financial education. Her goal is to make women rich by…making women rich, or in other words, moving past just empowerment to giving women power.

Thamina teaches women not only how they can grow their wealth but how they can leverage their resources to help other women. On her Instagram page and podcast, Thamina leads genuine, open conversations that include topics like mental health, fertility, and immigration. 2. Tiffany Aliche (@thebudgetnista)

Tiffany Aliche has helped over two million women save, manage, and prosper with their money.

Tiffany Aliche, known as the Budgetnista, is a former educator who was pivotal in getting financial education into New Jersey schools. Aliche’s Budgetnista Law (A1414) passed in January 2019, making financial education mandatory for middle school students in New Jersey.

She is passionate about breaking down barriers to personal finance, even becoming the first Black woman to grace the cover of Money Magazine! Aliche is the author of Get Good with Money, a New York Times bestseller, which offers a comprehensive ten-step plan for finding peace, safety, and harmony with money. She even has a Netflix documentary, Get Smart with Money, that shares peoples’ stories about money transformations. Aliche educates women on personal finance through her website, courses, podcast, and more. On Instagram, Aliche posts digestible, accessible financial education content tailored to women.

3. Nicole Kyle (@ialsopodcast) 

Nicole Kyle is a 2022 LinkedIn Top Voice in Gender Equity.

Nicole Kyle and her colleague Sophie W. Holm created the podcast I ALSO [Want Money] during the pandemic. I ALSO is a financial education resource rich with guests– from financial educators and experts to coaches and tech moguls. Three years and over 40 episodes later, I ALSO is an incredible resource for women who want to learn more about investing, crypto, web3, and other traditionally male-dominated financial ventures.

4. Helen Lu (@the.moneyminimalist)

Helen Lu (@themoneyminimalist) is all about financial independence and early retirement.

Is retiring at 65 a thing of the past? For influencer Helen Lu, this question built her a platform of nearly 25,000 followers. Lu planned, hustled, and saved for years so she could quit her 9 to 5 and take a gap year from working. She also is saving to retire early, and now she’s here to teach you how to do the same.

Helen, who goes by @the.moneyminimalist on Instagram, is an advocate of FIRE– or Financial Independence, Retire Early. This movement is gaining popularity in male-dominated financial spaces, but Lu saw a need for alternative discussions about work and money geared specifically toward women.

Instagram influencer Selma, otherwise known as @bitchimbudgeting, is all about helping women become “bougie on a budget.” Selma is a Special Education professional in a major US city, and she knows what it takes to save money on a limited budget. She is also passionate about giving every woman the opportunity to walk out of any room she is unsafe in, which many times comes down to having enough money to leave. For example, for women in domestic violence situations, being able to leave can come down to having independent sources of income. Dasha Kennedy, otherwise known as the Broke Black Girl, is a millennial financial coach who emphasizes no B.S. strategies for women of color to get ahead. Young women of color are excluded from financial conversations, and Kennedy seeks to change that with her thorough, engaging social content, blog, free resources, and speaking engagements. Her platform covers everything from side hustles to money boundaries to detailed plans for achieving savings goals in a short amount of time.
